Illuminated lanterns and umbrellas on Illumination Night

Illumination Nights were a summer tradition at camp meetings, mimicking a Christmas-in-July celebration of the joyful gathering of friends and family. Here in Craigville the tradition has continued since 1963.

Villagers illuminate their cottages with hundreds of colorful lights and paper lanterns, adorning porches and trees, and transforming the village into a festival of lights. Visitors stroll down the Midway and wind along the streets---  taking in the magical glow.

The evening traditionally includes a live band concert on the Green. It’s a wonderful evening of village hospitality.
