Job Description

  • Oversees and coordinates 10 weekly summer Sunday Tabernacle services.

  • Reports to and is supported by the Tabernacle and Religious Activities Committee (TRAC).

Term: Upon appointment through 15 September 2026.

Compensation: $3500. Housing is not included.  Beach privileges at Craigville Beach Association (CBA) are included.

Responsibilities:

1.     Pre-Season Activities

a.     Discuss with TRAC where the offering (25% of the weekly collection) will be donated. TRAC’s preference is to keep the donation within the greater Hyannis area. The recipient should be announced each week at the Tabernacle service. Ensure the donation is sent to the designated recipient at the end of the summer.

b.     Provide a photo and short bio for the Tabernacle website and the Craigville Chronicle (community newsletter).

2.     Meetings with TRAC (pre-season via Zoom, in-person when possible during the Summer)

a.     Upon engagement (Feb-May, monthly), to discuss thoughts for Summer 2026 services and to discuss job expectations.

b.     Twice during Summer 2026, if necessary.

c.      Communication as needed via email to report on preacher and musician invitations and acceptances.

3.     Organize Sunday Tabernacle Worship Services for 10 Summer Sundays.

a.     By 1 March 2026, provide suggestions for the Summer 2026 Tabernacle worship theme and present to TRAC.

b.     By 1 May 2026, identify preacher and musician(s) for each Sunday.

i.     Receive recommendations for preachers and musicians from the Craigville community and/or TRAC. Compile a list of possible preachers and musicians for review and approval by TRAC before invitations are extended. Once approved, invite preachers and musicians for Summer Sunday services.

ii.     Prepare a list of preachers and musicians for Summer 2026 with bios and photos to be posted in Craigville, on the Tabernacle website, and in the Craigville Chronicle.

iii.     Provide the list of preachers and musicians to the CCMA office so staff can prepare honorarium checks for the Summer.

iv.     Request flyers for each of the 10 weeks of summer to be prepared, to be posted around the broader community (eg, 1856 Country Store, US Post Offices).

c.      Create an Order of Worship. Obtain TRAC approval for anything nonstandard! Components of Service will include the following; those to be prepared by the Worship Director as the leader of the community are starred:

1.     Call to Worship*

2.     Opening Prayer (Invocation)*

3.     Joys/Concerns*

4.     Scripture

5.     Sermon

6.     Pastoral Prayer*

7.     Offering

8.     Benediction

d.     Prepare the weekly worship bulletin and print enough copies for Sunday service.

e.     Each Sunday before service arrive at Tabernacle no later than 30 minutes prior to service (09:15) to ensure:

 i.     Tabernacle is opened (and closed after service).

ii.     Microphones and music stands are set up appropriately for preacher and musician(s) according to their preferences.

iii.     Appropriate hymnals and worship bulletins are available.

f.      Participate in Sunday Tabernacle services (10 Sundays)

i.     Greet the congregation with community member(s).

ii.     Open each service and introduce guest preacher and musician(s).

iii.     Make any announcements, including the recipient of the collection (as determined by TRAC before the season)

iv.     Joys and concerns

9.     Activities Outside Sunday Services

a.     Offer suggestions for in-season sponsored religious activities and child/family-centered activities.

b.     Bi-weekly during the season, submit information or coordinate with Craigville Chronicle editor for Tabernacle Corner article regarding the upcoming 2 weeks of Tabernacle services. Submit information for the first Sunday by 1 June 2026.

10.  End of Season Activities

a.     By 15 September 2026, prepare an end-of-Summer report to the TRAC, to include the following topics:

i.     Summer theme

ii.     Clergy and musicians

iii.     Special programs

iv.     Financial accounting (payments to preachers/musicians vs offerings)
